How to Use OLAPLEX by Number: The Order of No.0 to No.9

OLAPLEX products carry numbers such as "No.3" and "No.4." Each number has a set place and timing of use, so knowing the order makes them easier to combine. In this article, we separate the numbers used at hair salons from the numbers used at home.

No.1 and No.2 are used at hair salons

No.1 (Bond Multiplier) and No.2 (Bond Perfector) are professional products. The OLAPLEX official site explains a process in which No.1 is added to color, bleach, perm solutions and so on, followed by No.2. These are not products for home use, so please consult your hairdresser about the treatment.

Numbers used in the bath

OLAPLEX No.0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment
OLAPLEX No.0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment | Tax incl. 155ml ¥3,740
  • No.0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment: a spray type used before shampooing. Apply to areas of dry hair where damage bothers you and leave for 5 minutes or more. Following it with No.3 is recommended.
  • No.3 Hair Perfector: a treatment used before shampooing. Work it through all of the dry hair, leave for 5 minutes or more, rinse, then shampoo. For special care 1–2 times a week.
  • No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo: a shampoo for daily use. Free of sulfates, phthalates, parabens and gluten.
  • No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner: a conditioner for daily use. Remove excess water, work it in, leave for 3–5 minutes or more, then rinse. For fine or soft hair that needs volume there is No.5 Fine, and for bleached hair with unwanted yellow tones or gray hair there is No.5P with purple pigment.

No.8 is a mask for intensive care used after shampooing. We carry Rich Mask, a rich mask that is also used after shampooing. When combining it with No.5, layer No.5 after the mask.

On days you use hard styling products, pre-rinse and towel-dry before applying No.0 or No.3. No.0 is 155mL (spray) and No.3 is 100mL.

Numbers used after the bath

OLAPLEX No.6 Bond Smoother
OLAPLEX No.6 Bond Smoother | Tax incl. 100ml ¥3,740
  • No.6 Bond Smoother: a leave-in treatment. Work it in a little at a time from the mid-lengths to the ends of towel-dried or dry hair. Using it with No.7 or No.9 is introduced.
  • No.7 Bonding Oil: an oil-type leave-in treatment. It also cares for heat damage from hair dryers and irons. The amount guide is from 8 drops for short hair.
  • No.9 Bond Protector Hair Serum: a serum-type leave-in treatment. It protects hair from heat and pollutants and helps the curls of permed styles last longer.
  • No.5 Leave-In Conditioner: a light milk type. It protects hair from damage at the ends such as split ends.

Example order of use

  1. (1–2 times a week) Layer No.0 → No.3 on dry hair and leave
  2. Shampoo with No.4
  3. No.5 (on days you use a mask, No.5 after Rich Mask)
  4. No.6 after towel-drying, and No.7 or No.9 to finish

You do not need to have them all. It is easier to keep up if you start with No.3 before shampooing and the daily No.4 and No.5, then add one product for before drying.
